2014 Parnelli Awards Gala Filled with Emotion, Surprises

Benny Collins accepts the 2014 Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award, Nov. 22, 2014 at the MGM Grand in Las VegasLAS VEGAS – It was Vegas, after all, so the bet was on. “We were all voting when Benny [Collins] would start crying, and I said he wouldn’t make it through the introduction, and I won,” laughs production professional and friend Steve Thomas. Thomas, with Michael Ahern, presented the Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award to Collins, the live event industry’s highest honor. Collins took the stage choked up and shed some tears in giving his appreciation to all he’s worked with and made friends with over the years. It was a fitting end to an evening filled with emotions, laughs and tears.

Eight hundred dancers and musicians from the city itself staged a superlative performance. The Bielefeld Dance Theatre and Philharmonic, the Syrian clarinet virtuoso Kinan Azmeh, and students and pupils from all levels and types of school were involved, as well as amateur dancers and musicians of all ages. This impressive theatre project in Bielefeld allowed those who took part to live dance and contemporary music experiences concretely.

COLOGNE, Germany - Since songwriter Wolfgang Niedecken formed BAP in the late 1970s, the band has released 16 studio albums and the band members have performed around the world. The band's latest tour, "BAP zieht den Stecker," may translate to "BAP pulls the plug," but LD Peter Seifertur (Cue Design) saw to it that the band was still well-lit. For their open-air concert at Salzkotten, near Paderborn, Seifertur specified a rig that included a variety of Clay Paky fixtures.
