LONDON - The Lyttelton Theatre, one of three theatres at the Royal National Theatre, was equipped with hydraulic lifts about 30 years ago. But when The White Guard was staged earlier this year, the National's systems engineering team found themselves in a quandary. The show required that they synchronize all three lifts, and they quickly found that the existing system simply didn't have the required functionality.
