RIVA, Italy - The Spiaggia degli Olivi lighthouse, a historic monument on Lake Garda, was turned off about 40 years ago. Restoration work has turned on the light again - but instead of the complicated original 24-volt mechanism, there is a new Clay Paky Sharpy inside the lantern room, which is not only able to reproduce the brightness of the old lighthouse, but also its perfect movement.

MUMBAI - When Norah Jones, daughter of Ravi Shankar, made her first ever appearance in India — at A Summer's Day Festival in Mumbai — around 8,000 fans turned up at the Mahalaxmi Race Course to cheer her on. To enhance her stage, local company E2Tech supplied 24 of PR Lighting’s new XLED 1037 moving heads with zoom.

MENDOZA, Argentina - Lighting/set designer Eli Sirlin used more than 120 Robe moving lights in his lighting design for the 2013 Festival Nacional de la Vendimia (National Grape Harvest Festival), a celebration of wine and the wine-making industry in Argentina. One design challenge was the huge space and the distances and angles that the lighting needed to cover.

FRANCE - Chromlech’s new Elidy LED matrix fixture is touring the world on Pink’s “The Truth About Love” tour. Production and lighting designers, Halpin and Chris Nyfield of Silent House Productions chose to incorporate 40 of Chromlech’s Elidy into their lighting design. Based around a single projector of 25 (5x5) LEDs, Elidy is modular in form and can be assembled to form up to 225 LEDs (1 sq/m) and arranged into shapes, screens, columns and even angled forms.

LONDON - White Light supplied lighting for The Jacksons’ Unity Tour, which packed venues across the UK in March. For the UK leg of the tour, Knight and production manager Scotty Ross worked with Lester Cobrin, White Light's head of concert touring, to choose the layout of the lighting rig. Having already toured the show in America, Knight decided to go in a new direction with the lighting for the UK leg.

STOCKHOLM - Scandinavia’s leading contemporary circus company Cirkus Cirkör has purchased Robe MMX Spots and LEDWash moving lights for their current touring schedule, which presents their latest work, “Knitting Peace.” The Robes are currently the only lights on the show. They are rigged onto the custom trussing structure which is also used by the performers and for various props, with some units placed in the floor.
