WUPPERTAL, Germany - For the Red Bull Air Race World Championship, which ran annually from 2003 to 2010 before returning in 2014 with races held in Abu Dhabi (Feb. 28), Rovinj, Croatia (April 12) and Putrajaya, Malaysia (May 18), relied upon a signal distribution system built by Riedel engineers for video, audio, communications, and data. The MediorNet real-time media network includes seven MediorNet Compact frames and three MediorNet Modular frames. Technicians interface audio signals via MADI and Riedel's RockNet digital audio network solution in combination with MediorNet to integrate the event's main mixing console, located in the OB van that provided the big-screen mix for the live audience. Riedel also supplied the wireless video links and HD cameras for the racing planes' onboard cameras, thus enabling pictures to be delivered from the pilots' perspectives. The 2014 series makes several more stops before finishing in China in November.
