Lightsmiths Adds Clay Paky LEDs to Rental Line

A.LEDA K20BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, UK - Buckinghamshire-based Lightsmiths has made a significant investment in Clay Paky’s A.LEDA professional LED lighting fixtures through UK distributor Ambersphere Solutions. Lightsmiths’ owner Bruce Rutter said, “We’ve been known locally up until now for supplying festivals, projects and corporate events in and around the Bucks area, but as we expand our business, and begin to supply more event and rental companies nationwide, we felt the time was right to upgrade the kit we have available.”

Billy TalentEUROPE — Canadian rockers Billy Talent celebrated their new album in September with an arena run of Germany and central Europe. Lighting Designer Dara Guiney had worked with the band briefly in 2010 and was invited to come aboard. Guiney specified 28 Alpha Beam 1500, 24 Alpha Profile 1500 and 16 Sharpys, supplied by Go Audio Rental GmbH.

Mojo Barriers Helps Hobbit Premiere in New Zealand

The Hobbit premiereWELLINGTON, NZ - An estimated 100,000 fans wearing elf ears and wizard hats waited patiently to greet their favorite stars for the film premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington, New Zealand. Mojo Barriers installed more than 1,968 feet of barriers along the length of the red carpet, which lined the city streets. This allowed the film’s stars to walk safely to the Embassy Theatre, where the event took place, and to keep fans from overflowing into the adjacent road traffic.

Face of the YearBRATISLAVA, Slovak Republic - LD Martin Kubanka used Robe moving lights to illuminate Slovak Republic’s 2012 ‘Face of The Year’ contest and gala evening, which was broadcast live on national channel STV1. His role was to not only light the set but also to make the models competing in the event look their best. He worked closely with set designer Dano Sichma for this show. Slovakian rental company Q-99 supplied the gear.
