CHENNAI, India - A Milos MR5 roof system was recently used for a high profile open-air concert by Indian star A.R. Rahman, staged at the YMCA Grounds in Chennai, India. The multideck layered stage was designed by Bollywood set designer Varsha Jain. This, along with the Milos roof system, trussing, rigging and assorted scaffolding and structures, were supplied by Chennai-based Men At Work Stagecraft Management Pvt Ltd and project manager Mankaran Singh.

GUILDFORD, U.K. — The tour manager and one of the 10 singers for Fisherman’s Friends, a male vocal group, died from injuries caused by a falling steel loading dock door at the G Live venue here. Tour manager Paul McMullen, 44, died at the scene of the freakish accident, which occurred during the mid-day load-in for a performance Feb. 9. The show was cancelled. Singer Trevor Grills, 54, was also pinned by the heavy steel door. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries Feb. 11.

LONGUEIL, QUEBEC - Canadian rental specialist Ranger Son Éclairage has invested in Robe moving lights, initially buying 16 Robin MMX Spots and then following up with 24 LEDBeam 100s. LD Anthony Ranger of Ranger Son Eclairage has put the fixtures out on a number of projects he is designing, including large festivals, private events and parties.

TORONTO - Canadian new wave /indie band, Metric, recently completed a tour in support of their fifth album, Synthetica. LD Ian MacDonald designed the lighting to be diverse to scale from 1,000-seat theaters to arenas and amphitheaters. This tour involved five different set-ups, each including GLP’s new Spot One LED moving heads.

LONDON – LD Nick Gray used Clay Paky Sharpys to welcome VIPs for the James Bond film release of ‘Skyfall.’ Gray’s concept was to use lighting to create an environment of “mystery, action and intrigue” to mirror the Bond film. The gala was held at London’s Tate Modern museum.
