IES Graduate Grant Open for Submissions

logoNEW YORK - The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) announces a new IES Graduate Grant Program, designed to encourage advanced scholarly work in Lighting Design and Illuminating Engineering. Two grants are available for award: Ph.D. ($30,000) and Master’s ($15,000). The awards are expected to last two years for a Ph.D. and one year for a Master’s. Application deadline is March 1.

NEW YORK - The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) announces a new IES Graduate Grant Program, designed to encourage advanced scholarly work in Lighting Design and Illuminating Engineering. Two grants are available for award: Ph.D. ($30,000) and Master’s ($15,000). The awards are expected to last two years for a Ph.D. and one year for a Master’s. Applications for either grant must be submitted by the student on or before March 1.

The grant will be provided to the student’s university with the expectation that the expenditures will be administered and managed jointly by the professor and the student. The grant is intended to fund specific expenses related to student research projects leading to advanced degrees. Awardees are expected to present their results at the IES Annual Conference.

“The Board of Directors of the IES has created these awards with several purposes in mind. One is to encourage participation of students in the endeavor of lighting research. The other is to further support scientific findings that can benefit the art and science of lighting design and application, ” said Bill Hanley, Executive Vice President of the IES.
