BTH Lamp from Osram
Osram has introduced its BTH lamp, an upgrade for 6-inch and 8-inch Fresnels. The lamps can also be used for PC Spots using medium pre-focus base lamps. Shown as a prototype at the 2008 USITT show, the 575W lamps operate on 115V and serve as a direct replacement for 500W, 120V BTL lamps, providing 30 percent more lumens and a higher color temperature. At 15,500 lumens, the rated output of the BTH is significantly higher than that for a BTL lamp at 11,000 lumens. The average rated life of 300 hours is on par with most major SSTV lamp types.

Stick with the Stickers UL or ETL compliance stickers don’t add to the wow factor of your show. No one in the audience will oooh and aaah over them, and they won’t get an ounce of applause, even if the audience could see them. Compliance stickers aren’t sexy and they aren’t the rock stars of the industry, but they are your best safeguard against poorly-designed gear that could go wrong. And when it goes wrong, you’ll wish you had paid more attention to those little stickers. — Richard Cadena, from Focus on Fundamentals, PLSN, July 2008
